2021 series aluminum strip is al-copper alloy, which is widely used as a form of duralumin. The strength of this alloy isnt high (slightly over that of business pure aluminum), and it cant be strengthened by heat treatment. Therefore, cold processing is adopted to enhance its mechanical properties: its high plasticity in annealing state, good plasticity in semi-cold hardening, low plasticity in cold hardening, good weldability, poor machinability.
